On July 23, ESK Ceramics GmbH & Co. KG successfully passed the surveillance audit of its quality management system to ISO 9001:2008 and 14001:2004. In the audited departments, the two auditors from TÜV Süd were able to satisfy themselves that the ESK quality management system is not only systematically implemented but also developing continuously. Among the items praised by the auditors were

  • The ESK production system EPS, whose goal is continuous improvement of the workflows and which the auditors rate as an “example of best practice”.
  • The systematic way in which the effectiveness of training is checked
  • The process landscape, which represents the workflows, applicable documents and key data,
  • And the documentation and reporting in the field of environmental and quality management

The outstanding result of the audit was naturally also very much welcomed by Clemens Baeck, head of quality and productivity management at ESK:

“It’s an excellent achievement, which we have accomplished together with all the staff. Our active environmental awareness and efforts to establish our own production system for continuous improvement of our workflows have paid off: we realize that many of our customers always place great importance on productivity and lean processes. The basic prerequisite is a functioning quality and environmental system, which is why we continue to perform internal and external audits several times a year in addition to the official certifications. The financial and economic crisis made it clear to us that we can only continue to succeed through quality and innovation and by making optimum use of our resources.”
