Thermal process engineering, with its wide variety of processes, poses severe challenges to the thermal, corrosion and wear resistance of the components and the materials they are made of. For thermal plant engineering, ESK offers various components made from its own material EKasic® silicon carbide.
Typical applications of the components manufactured by ESK are furnace linings, structural parts for furnace construction, burners, thermocouple sheaths and protective tubes for radiant heaters.
EKasic® F is the 99 % sintered silicon carbide (SiC) from ESK, with a unique range of properties that is superior to metals and other ceramics:
- Extreme temperature resistance up to 1,600 °C in oxidizing atmospheres and 2,000 °C under protactive gas/vacuum
- Universal corrosion resistance
- High thermal conductivity
- Very good thermal shock resistance
