CERAMIC BALLISTIC PROTECTION

Maximizing the protection of combat troops in crisis areas is a top priority in our country. Even the best is only just good enough. To meet these challenges, ESK has developed ceramics for armor systems that satisfy the toughest specifications.

ESK supplies high-tech ceramics specially tailored for ballistic armor systems to meet the specific needs of the army, air force and navy.

The goal is to provide innovative ceramic solutions for maximum protection with a unique weight saving over conventional systems.

ESK’s silicon carbide (SiC) and boron carbide (B4C) have already more than proven their capabilities in practical service:

  • High hardness
  • High mechanical strength
  • High modulus of elasticity
  • High sonic speed
  • Low areal weight

The optimum material is chosen according to the requirements and fabricated into the optimum design, according to whether it is intended for personal body armor or vehicle, aircraft or naval armor systems.

ESK has long been an experienced supplier to well-known established system suppliers to the defense industry and partners in the German “infantryman of the future” (IDZ) project.
