EKamold® SUSPENSIONS AS RELEASE AGENTS IN LIGHT METAL AND NON-FERROUS CASTING & THE ALUMINUM INDUSTRY
Separation of molten light metals, such as magnesium, zinc and aluminum, from their substrate requires the use of a release coat. Boron nitride (BN) is an ideal release material because it is not wetted by a large number of molten light-metal and non-ferrous metals, or by molten aluminum. Ekamold® boron nitride suspensions from ESK not only offer the advantage of being outstanding release agents, but at the same time guarantee good adhesion to the substrate and so ensure a long service life.
ESK offers a range of boron nitride (BN) suspensions, with binders and solvents that have been optimized to various applications.
Typical Applications of EKamold® BN Suspensions as Release Agents are:
- Metals:
Ladles, samplers, casting molds
- Ceramics:
Launders, crucibles, nozzles, stoppers, risers, hot-top rings
- Graphite:
Rotors, degassing system, crucibles
- Casting sand:
Mold inserts
Advantages of ESK Ekamold® Suspensions Made from Boron Nitride (BN):
- Excellent adhesion thanks to optimized binder systems
- Outstanding release agent, especially in contact with molten light metals, non-ferrous metals and liquid aluminum
- Reduced wear by the metal
- Reduced transfer of ferrous contaminants into the melt
- Improved surface of casting
- Easy to apply
- Self-curing
ESK Offers the Following Water-Based Boron Nitride Suspensions:
- EKamold® Cast-C for all types of refractory ceramics and cements
- EKamold® Cast-M for metal substrates (e.g. casting ladles)
- EKamold® WP for metal and ceramics (exception: fused silica)
