For many years, ESK has supplied the material for the body armor used by the US Army. ESK’s boron carbide (B4C) is processed in the USA by ESK’s parent company Ceradyne Inc., and then supplied to the Army as a complete body armor system of ceramic plate with backing. Ceradyne Inc. is a key supplier of body armor to the US military.
Since 2011 the German Army is benefiting from the lightest available SK4 protection based on hot pressed boron carbide multi curved plates from ESK.
